Nice, our poor old parents are going to have themselves worked up into an emotional froth.

2009 Drama Synopsis and Comments
by jabberwock inthis year's drama was based on the parable of the prodigal son.
the theme was "your brother was dead and came to life".
as some have probably heard, it is a modern day story based on that parable, so there are no fancy costumes or fake beards.. .

There is a JW Therapist Elder in Southern California - Experience
by BonaFide ini know of two jw therapists, one who is an elder.. so yesterday i was out in service (yea i know) and we saw another car group from another congregation in a parking lot.
so we all started to talk and see who knew who, etc.
do you know any other jw therapist elders out there?

Even if it were ethical (not), the nice thing about therapy is that the person is helped by the therapist and hopefully never has to see them again. I can't imagine seeing a therapist that I also see at the KH or at an assembly. I think that could create a whole new set of issues. Why would anyone want to see him professionally and why would he want a practice like this?

Is there a GROWING AWARENESS among Jehovah's Witnesses that SOMETHING is REALLY WRONG with the Organization?
by BonaFide ini hope i can explain this clearly.
years ago, we all knew what a child molester was.
but there were a lot of misconceptions, mishandled situations in and out of the congregations, and just a general non-awareness of the seriousness and pervasiveness of pedophiles.. not anymore.

There are still many that are clueless but they are clueless across the board. We have a friend that was going somewhere a few weekends ago and said "Now I can't go because of some special talk, what's that all about, is this new?" He's just a typical "born in", really knows nothing about doctrine. If we were to bring up 1995, 1975 or 607, he wouldn't know a thing about it and he's never ever going to leave. Most of the people I have seen leave have really been kicked out, these folks are much easier to be cast aside. However, when you leave on principle and your life is not falling apart, no gross wrongdoing, I think that may get some people to think. I hope.

How did you REALLY feel when you where out in field service?
by megaflower ini never felt comfortable knocking on door and i hoped no one would be home.
my presentation was short and to the point because i did not want to get into discussions.
as we walked from "door to door" i secretly wished i could be like all the ones i saw in the nighborhood.

As a little kid I really hated it ( child of 2 pioneers). Most days I even went in service after school, ugh. Then when I grew up and got married, I felt about service like I do about cleaning the garage or the tile grout, I was happy when it was over. I had some sort of deluded accomplishment, although I never accomplished much for the colossal time investment. My kids absolutely hated every minute of it and were not afraid to say it, like I was.
Then there was seeing people that you knew from other aspects of the community and that was the worst feeling in the world. "Mom, why is grandma's nurse from the hospital standing on our porch?" How do you explain that one. Also, I never, ever made my kids work in the same territory as their school, too many horrid memories of that.

Didn't you love it when someone would refer to last Thursday's text in daily conversation and you didn't know what the hell they were talking about?

I was going to ask all the same questions that Mrs Fiorini asked about children, how old and all that stuff, I think it matters if there are kids involved. Like would you be getting out only to leave them there to be raised in a cult? With all that under consideration, I don't think I could stay married to someone who didn't at least hear me out. You know even when I was totally "in" if my husband would have handed me CoC, I would have at least read it. When I handed it to him a year ago, he read it with great trepidation. How can you share a life, a bed and a mortgage with some one that won't try to understand you. I have experienced this with family, they have just stopped talking to me without even asking why I quit, it is grossly dismissive and disrespectful. You know if they were people that just went to church twice a month and didn't let it govern their whole entire life, I would say who cares. However it is too much of an invasive life style to just chalk it up to a quirky difference.

I would wager that this was all done in a lab. I've noticed that big kids (teens) take up as much energy as toddlers in a different way. Do these people consider the demands of dances, school functions, projects, driving school, dating dilemmas, sports events and a bus that comes at 615am at the age of 80. I think it's nuts!

I need to get my family to read this site!
by wtfmidoing ini need to get ideas on how to get my family members to "stumble" on to this site.
i would get tremendous resistance for just recommending it honestly.
there are so many logical wake up stories here.

Good question. I don't think it will ever work with my extended family (parents and in laws) because "Watchtower says the Internet is the Devil". So that in itself is a pretty big obstacle!

I guess we are all heretics.........
by awildflower init always amazes me how expendable we are to this organization.
especially if you are the mom of unbaptized children and the wife to the 'unbeliever'.
in my experience, i was let go and forgotten quite easily (although i get the feeling it might not be over!).

We actually had a few of the elders call and attempt to stop by at first, but we avoided it because what do you say when you just figured out that everything you believed your entire life is dead wrong? If I would have spoke up, I would be DF'ed and there are a few people I actually still want to talk to. They have pretty much left us alone now. Back to what you said about chasing heretics, my parents always said "let them go out the back door, for everyone that leaves another one comes that really wants to be here". So much for love of the individual, keep them numbers up.

Were there 200 JW's disfellowshipped in 1980 all at once - in Cleveland, Ohio?
by BonaFide ini have some old notes from a 1981 circuit assembly.
brother frank bartell was the district overseer.
i am pretty sure its 1981 or 1982.. anyway, in his last talk he said that there was a terrible situation in cleveland ohio the previous year (1980).

It's true. Mostly people from the west side of Cleveland. After that no one was allowed to have any kind of party or gathering.
